On Wednesday (21 October), Matt Gauldie, the Official New Zealand Defence Force Artist visited Raumati Beach School (as well as 7 others on the Kapiti Coast). Matt talked about his life and passion for art, as well as his job in the NZDF. He talked about his trips to Gallipoli, Afghanistan, and the Solomon Islands. He showed us his art, including pieces he had done when he was our age and younger. He was the Official Army Artist for 7 years and is currently the Defence Force artist, doing commemorative paintings and sculptures.
